Curriculum & Learning Approach
At Soneike Private School we follow the nationally recognised CAPS curriculum, delivered through engaging, learner-centred teaching that prepares every child for life beyond the classroom.
CAPS Curriculum
A Curriculum Built on National Standards
We follow the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) — South Africa's official national curriculum framework — across all phases from ECD through to Grade 12. CAPS sets clear, consistent standards for what learners should know and be able to do at every grade level.
All our textbooks and learning materials are CAPS-approved, guaranteeing relevance, quality, and alignment with the national assessment requirements. Parents can be confident that every Soneike learner is receiving an education that meets and exceeds the required national standard.
CAPS-Approved
All teaching, textbooks, and assessments align fully with South Africa's national Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement.
Our Approach
How We Teach
CAPS-Aligned Teaching
Every lesson plan, assessment, and learning activity is designed in line with the CAPS framework, ensuring full curriculum coverage across all subjects and grade phases.
Approved Textbooks & Materials
We use only CAPS-approved textbooks and supplementary materials, so learners always have access to accurate, up-to-date, and nationally recognised content.
Learner-Centred Classrooms
Our teachers create inclusive, engaging classroom environments where every learner is seen, heard, and supported to reach their full potential.
Continuous Assessment
Progress is tracked through a balanced mix of formal and informal assessments, giving teachers and parents a clear, ongoing picture of each learner's development.
Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
Beyond content knowledge, we develop learners who can think independently, ask good questions, and approach challenges with confidence and creativity.
Holistic Development
Academic excellence is one part of the picture. We nurture the social, emotional, and physical development of every learner through a well-rounded school experience.
Learning in Action
Curious Minds at Work
From the library to the science lab, our learners are encouraged to explore, question, and discover every single day.

Early Childhood Development
Our ECD programme lays the foundation for lifelong learning through play-based, structured activities that develop language, numeracy, motor skills, and social confidence.

How We Assess Learning
Assessment at Soneike is continuous and balanced. We use a combination of formal assessments (tests, examinations, and tasks) and informal assessments (class activities, observations, and projects) to build a complete picture of each learner's progress. Parents receive regular feedback through term reports and parent-teacher meetings.
